As Breeze’s Sr. Manager of Corporate Communications, you will be responsible for developing and executing the airline’s overall external and internal communications programs and strategies, as well as being prepared to handle crisis communications as required. You will be an integral part of a fast-growing team dedicated to fostering positive relationships with Team Members, local, national, and industry media, key stakeholders, and communities while ensuring alignment with the airline’s brand identity and business objectives. This role requires strong leadership skills, exceptional communication abilities, critical and creative thinking skills, and a deep understanding of the aviation industry.

Here’s what you’ll do

Strategic Communication Planning:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans to support the airline’s objectives, including crisis management, brand awareness, Team Member engagement, and relationships with key stakeholders to define and uphold Breeze’s growing dominance in the industry.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align communication strategies with overall business goals and initiatives.
  • Continuously evaluate and adjust communication strategies based on industry trends, market insights, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Develop the overall brand communications strategy on behalf of Breeze that addresses opportunities in different media channels.
  • Manage all media relations, proactively identifying and creating headlines that generate measurable positive coverage across Breeze’s expanding network.
  • Build excitement around Breeze which results in the Breeze brand being a leader in its category.

External Communication:

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for Breeze, representing the company’s interests to media outlets, industry partners, and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local and national journalists, airport and community partners, and influencers to secure positive media coverage and enhance the airline’s public image.
  • Generate significant and measurable media coverage for all company promotions, new city announcements, product launches, milestones, etc.
  • Manage the creation of press releases, media kits, and other external communication materials to effectively convey key messages and announcements.
  • Proactively pitch positive stories about Breeze to media across the airline’s network to increase share of voice and establish Breeze as the “hometown carrier” in key markets.
  • Prep executives for media interviews with prepared talking points and background on journalist/publication.
  • Oversee fam tours, press conferences, and grassroots efforts across the Breeze network.

Internal Communication:

  • Lead internal communication efforts to ensure all Team Members are informed, engaged, and aligned with the airline’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
  • Work closely with Breeze’s People Services on crafting and executing a consistent and engaging internal communications strategy, including establishing a regular cadence of communications and a cohesive voice for communications.
  • Oversee the development and execution of internal communications channels and materials including intranet, weekly bulletins, All Hands meetings, leadership updates.
  • Organize Team Member events to foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Brand Reputation and Crisis Communication:

  • Develop and monitor analytics to measure Breeze’s share of voice among competitors.
  • Proactively identify and rapidly address potential threats and opportunities that impact the brand’s growth and development.
  • Create a comprehensive thought leadership platform for the airline’s executive team to ensure Breeze leaders are highly visible in their respective areas of expertise.
  • Collaborate with marketing and creative teams to develop compelling content and campaigns that resonate with target audiences and reinforce the airline’s brand positioning.
  • Develop and oversee the submission of industry and brand-related awards.
  • Achieve performance measures and adhere to established standards in conjunction with Breeze Aviation Group Values of Safety, Kindness, Integrity, Ingenuity, and Excellence
  • Monitor online and offline channels for brand mentions, Guest feedback, and reputation management opportunities.

Crisis Communication:

  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans to effectively respond to and mitigate reputational risks, operational disruptions, and other emergencies.
  • Serve as the point of contact for media inquiries during crisis situations, providing timely and accurate information to the public while safeguarding the airline’s reputation.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team of communication professionals, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth and development.
    • Establish clear goals, expectations, and performance metrics for Team Members, conducting regular evaluations and providing constructive feedback to ensure success.

Here’s what you need to be successful

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Communications or related degree
  • Deep experience working in corporate communications (10+ years experience at an agency or in-house)
  • Successful track record developing brands that have scaled from early stage to mature
  • Knowledge and experience leveraging all aspects of traditional and new media for marketing and communication purposes
  • Strong relationships with national and industry media plus a proven history of securing positive news coverage in both small and large markets.
  • Very strong written and verbal skills (writing samples required)
  • Active networker who knows how to leverage existing relationships and create new ones for brand growth
  • Exceptional representative of the Breeze brand by being very visible leader with both internal and external audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience with in-house corporate communications at an airline or hospitality brand
  • Experience with brand development and media measurement at an airline or other travel company
