Brief Description

Vitalant, a mission-driven organization dedicated to saving and improving lives through blood donation and transfusion medicine, is seeking a detail-oriented Sourcing Specialist/Buyer to support procurement operations. This role is essential in acquiring direct and indirect materials, services, and technical equipment for Vitalant and its affiliates. The Sourcing Specialist/Buyer will create and manage purchase orders, coordinate with vendors, ensure contract compliance, and drive cost-saving initiatives—all while upholding Vitalant’s commitment to efficiency and quality in support of its life-saving mission.

What To Expect

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Work Location: This position can be located remotely from a work-at-home environment anywhere in the United States. Employees living within 35 miles of the Scottsdale, AZ National Headquarters can work in a hybrid environment combining remote work with in-office collaboration.

As a Sourcing Specialist/ You'll Get To

  • Manage purchase orders for equipment, supplies, and services, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate timely deliveries and negotiate pricing and terms with vendors.
  • Validate and approve purchase requests, rejecting non-compliant orders.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and ensure alignment with corporate contracts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize sourcing strategies and resolve purchase order discrepancies.
  • Support system improvements to streamline procurement processes.

Requirements

Knowledge/ Education

High School graduate or GED required.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Licenses/ Certifications

CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) or CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) preferred.

Experience

Four years of Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) purchasing experience required.

Healthcare Purchasing Experience Preferred.

Experience in healthcare Supply Chain Management environment preferred.

Skills/Abilities

Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities.

Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Effective oral and written communications skills.

Must have analytical, statistical, personal organization, and problem solving skills.

Able to organize, prioritize, and execute a variable workload and multiple priorities.

Ability to work in a team environment and participate as an active team member.

Must have proficient computer skills.
