This is an entry-level, non regular, hourly position responsible for performing a variety of hands-on duties with the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center ranging from administrative tasks to basic manual labor tasks.
What to Expect: As our Sports Center Helper you will be responsible for answering the phones at the skate shack, running the POS system, and providing customer service to the Menard clients. You will engage in a variety of assignments under the general direction of the Sports Center Facility Supervisor. Due to the nature of the business, high volume times occur over the weekends and evenings, which is when you will likely be called to work. This is a non-regular, temporary position without benefits. The current workload is roughly 15-25 hours per week.

Essential Duties

The responsibilities listed below are illustrative of the various types of duties that may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Assist in guiding visitors and patrons to and around the Menard Sports Center.
- Collect payments from admission sales and activities.
- Perform general receptionist duties.
- Assist with Menard Sports Center programs, including birthday party packages and other activities and events.
- Restock activity brochures and other information.
- Assist with various activity registrations and assigning locker room keys.
- Sell punch cards for various activities and assist with rental skate check out and return.
- Assist with sports program needs including set up and take down of bocce courts, toys for turf time, and other activities.
- Assist with signage and display information.
- Assist with monitoring activity usage for collection.
- Sanitize skates and assist with skate maintenance.
- Sanitize touch points in building lobby and other areas as needed.
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Experience, Education Certificates, license and/or Registrations

- Must be at least 16 years of age (with a valid and approved State of Alaska Work Permit); or 18 years of age or older and eligible for employment in the United States.
- Prefer previous cash handling and reservation taking experience
- Ability to communicate effectively clearly and concisely both in oral and written communications.
- Ability to work with staff and the public in a courteous and professional manner.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word and Outlook.
- Ability to operate general office equipment to include but not limited to; computers, printers, cash register, credit card machine, multi-line phone system, electrostatic sprayer, fax and copy machines.

Background Information on the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Center:
The Menard Center is the premier indoor sports and event facility in the Mat-Su Valley. Show cased on 60 wooded and beautiful acres, the Menard Center at 104,000 square feet, includes an NHL-size ice arena, an indoor artificial turf court, (the MTA Turf Arena), dryland training center, a running/walking track, batting cage with pitching machine, three community meeting rooms, and commercial kitchen. On the complex grounds: rodeo arena with grandstand bleachers, and one-mile paved walking trail around the perimeter of the property.
