This position is responsible for making strategic and data-driven decisions to align the center's offerings with the needs of students. The manager will work to enhance the marketing and partnerships that promote awareness and utilization of coaching and skill-building services on campus. A key aspect of this role involves hiring and supervising undergraduate student peer coaches, Graduate Assistants, and professional Success Coaches, ensuring that the coaching staff is well-equipped to support students effectively. In addition to staff management, the Student Coaching Program Manager will lead the CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) certification process for student peer coaches, which is essential for maintaining high standards in coaching practices. Collaboration with colleagues within CCSS is crucial to foster a strong culture of student-driven peer leadership and education, ensuring that the coaching services provided are not only effective but also resonate with the student body. The manager will also be expected to engage in continuous improvement of the coaching programs based on feedback and performance metrics, thereby enhancing the overall student experience at the university.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee academic coaching and skill-building programs within the Capstone Center for Student Success.
  • Make strategic, data-driven decisions to align services with student needs.
  • Enhance marketing and partnerships to increase awareness and usage of coaching services.
  • Hire and supervise undergraduate peer coaches, Graduate Assistants, and professional Success Coaches.
  • Lead the CRLA certification process for student peer coaches.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in CCSS to promote a culture of student-driven leadership and education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of academic advising or student success experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of academic advising or student success experience.
  • Knowledge of academic coaching, academic and life skill building, student development, and learning theories.
  • Strong multi-tasking and program management skills.
  • Comfortable reviewing data and reports to make decisions about services.
  • Interpersonal communication and relationship building skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience working with a coaching program, learning center, advising, and/or academic support area.
  • Experience hiring and supervising student and/or professional staff.
