Grounds & Maintenance Laborer ID-9173

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Performs grounds keeping and building maintenance duties.
  • Cut lawn using powered push-mower or riding mower; trim and edge around walkways/sidewalks.
  • Apply pesticide to rid grounds from insect infestations.
  • Remove snow from walkways either by hand, snow blower or plow. Apply ice melt on sidewalks, walkways and ramps to prevent accidents.
  • Perform routine maintenance duties such as painting, fixing fountains, changing lights and other facility maintenance duties aside from grounds work.
  • Trim shrubs and pull weeds. Cut down tree limbs that are posing a danger.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in grounds keeping.
  • Apply herbicides to planter beds, paved surface cracks and lawns as needed.
  • Safely operate light vehicles such as pick-up trucks, tractors or riding lawn mowers.
  • Install beauty bark, maintain exterior lighting, repair irrigation, and replace plant material and trees as needed. Take, mulch, and maintain grounds in a professional manner.
  • Complete maintenance work order as detailed; work on Facility General Maintenance and other tasks., projects or work as assigned.
  • Taking turns being on-call backup for emergency calls.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision which would include being able to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Skill in reading and following blueprints and assembly instructions.
  • Skills in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Skill in using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with all staff and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.




 

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Washington driver’s license required.
  • 2-4 years groundskeeper and maintenance experience or equivalent.
  • Pesticide license or ability to acquire within a year

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands: Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.

Position Type/Expected Hours to work: Tuesday – Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an hour lunch break and two 15-minute breaks in the morning and afternoon. Shift subject to change during winter months due to snow removal.

  • Retirement: Voluntary contributions to the 401k and/or Roth plans after six-month waiting period. WWC Physicians PC matches up to 5% of eligible salary after one year of employment and a minimum 1,000 hours of service.
  • Time Off Benefit:
    • Paid Time Off (PTO): Full-time and part-time (part-time is prorated) employees will begin accruing upon hire date. Waiting period of 90 days. PTO amounts for 40-hour employees are 23 days (184 hours). Maximum annual carryover of 240 hours.
    • WA Paid Sick Leave: All employees accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Waiting period of 90 days. Maximum rollover is 40 hours per year.
    • Extended Sick Time (EST): Full-time and part-time (part-time is prorated) employees will begin accruing upon hire date. Waiting period of 90 days. EST hours may be used for illness or injury after an absence of three consecutive working days. WA Paid Sick Leave and/or PTO, if available, will be used during this waiting period. Maximum accumulation of 480 hours.
  • Bonuses: WWC Physicians PC typically offers an annual bonus based on hours worked.
