Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is looking to add to our Medical Economics team and has a new opportunity for a Provider Analyst. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Analyst with a focus on supporting data analysis, statistical modeling, and healthcare financial management tasks. This role involves assisting in analyzing financial and operational data to identify trends, support predictions, and contribute to actionable insights that enhance financial performance.

The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.


What you'll do

  • Assist in the analysis of financial data using statistical methods to support identification of trends, patterns, and discrepancies.
  • Support the development of predictive models under guidance to help forecast financial outcomes.
  • Work closely with finance and operational teams to gather data and insights that support business needs and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of data visualization tools and dashboards.
  • Participate in scenario analysis and risk assessments under supervision to aid decision-making processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes that may impact financial performance.
  • Support efforts to maintain data integrity and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Extracting, organizing, storing, analyzing, reporting and modeling of data
  • Design, extract, and analyze large datasets to identify opportunities to reduce healthcare costs and utilization
  • Discount analyses and tracking


What you need

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or Finance. Candidates should have a solid foundation in statistical analysis, equipped with strong management techniques and comprehensive business acumen.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, claim coding schemes including DRGs, ICD-10 coding, CPT, medical economics, and business practices of professional and institutional providers
  • Ability to support multiple projects and assist in prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Skill in analyzing financial data using advanced statistical methods and data mining
  • Ability to design, implement, and manage data systems and ensure data integrity
  • Knowledge of technology, statistics, hospital financial management, or other healthcare-related reimbursement
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and lead strategic initiatives
  • Developing project management skills and ability to contribute to team efforts.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to support stakeholder communications.
  • Ability to build relationships with experts throughout the company and work collaboratively
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
  • Expert knowledge of SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and Excel; knowledge in database structures
