About the position

Securian Asset Management is seeking a Structured Assets Credit Analyst to support the growth of our structured assets portfolios. This position is crucial in helping the structured assets team achieve the investment objectives of various portfolio strategies. The role involves oversight of both primary and secondary structured asset markets, which includes making timely new issue recommendations based on thorough structural and underlying asset analysis. The analyst will need to consider relative value across structured assets and broader investment options, presenting secondary ideas based on this analysis. Additionally, the analyst will be responsible for trading approved trade ideas and conducting ongoing surveillance of current holdings to align risk with current fundamental viewpoints. The position also requires the analyst to regularly update investment sector theses and positioning. Internal rating assessments and evaluations of underlying asset performance metrics compared to benchmarks are essential tasks. The analyst will maintain asset analytics and modeling, conduct recurring sector-level analysis to identify inflection points, and provide a fundamental sector outlook with recommendations. Furthermore, the role incorporates elements of ESG to highlight relevant options within the analyst's sector coverage. The analyst will also engage in projects and experiments aimed at creatively enhancing and improving the research process, leveraging various technology platforms, and providing cross-sector support and analytical contributions to relative value discussions.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 5+ years of demonstrated investment research success in a liability-driven and/or total return environment in a structured analyst role.
  • Currently have or working towards CFA and/or MBA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make objective recommendations and defend viewpoints.
  • Strong math and analytical skills, including a strong understanding of structural nuances and modeling capabilities.
  • Ability to distill and communicate critical issues and assumptions.
  • Broad understanding of financial markets and risk models supported by a background in math, economics, or statistics.
  • High level of curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Experience utilizing research tools such as Bloomberg, Intex, Excel, and Tableau.
