Operations at Brex
The Operations team is the bridge between our products and our customers. Our priority is to keep our customers happy and their businesses protected, while communicating vital information to our internal teams. We are responsible for underwriting all of our customers, while simultaneously managing Brex’s risk exposures. We work cross-functionally with the Risk, Compliance, Data, and Engineering teams to allow Brex to scale efficiently, keeping quality top of mind.
What you’ll do
As an EDD Associate, you will play a crucial role in mitigating financial crime risks by conducting in-depth investigations of high-risk customers. Your responsibilities will include performing in-depth reviews of customer data, evaluating financial crime risks, and ensuring adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations, as well as internal risk policies. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to conduct detailed research and analysis, proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks. Additionally, you’ll contribute to the ongoing enhancement of EDD processes, tools, and procedures to drive efficiency and effectiveness
Where you'll work
This role will be based in our Salt Lake City office. You must be willing to work in the office at least 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday. Employees will be able to work remotely for up to 4 weeks per year.
Responsibilities
- Conduct enhanced due diligence (EDD) reviews for both new and existing clients, thoroughly documenting key findings, supporting information, and risk assessments.
- Utilize internal systems and open-source intelligence to analyze data and identify potential money laundering or regulatory risks.
- Consistently meet internal service level agreements and uphold quality standards to support team, department, and company OKRs.
- Identify opportunities to improve EDD processes and tools, driving greater efficiency, accuracy, and standardization.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to escalate high-risk cases, recommend investigative actions, and support Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) filings when appropriate.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in AML/KYC compliance focused on Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) or high-risk customer investigations.
- In-depth, hands-on knowledge of AML/CTF typologies, including B2B activity
- Familiarity with the USA PATRIOT Act, Bank Secrecy Act, and AML/KYC regulations
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to adapt to a fast-paced work environment; strong sense of urgency
- Ability to work independently, while being team-oriented
- Must be willing to work in the office 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday

- Previous Crypto experience
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)
- Certified Cryptoasset AFC Specialist Certification (CCAS)
Compensation
The expected salary range for this role is $73,000 - $92,000. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
