Adult High School Diploma Teacher-Project For Pride In Living ID-14276

About the position

Project for Pride in Living, Inc. (PPL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering low-income individuals to achieve self-reliance through integrated services. The Adult High School Diploma Teacher position is part of PPL's Diploma Connect program, which assists participants in meeting the Minnesota Standard Adult High School Diploma requirements. This program is designed for individuals aged 19 and older who have not graduated from high school and prefer to earn a diploma rather than a GED. The role requires a dedicated educator who is community-oriented and responsive to student needs, ensuring that participants are engaged in their educational journey and equipped with the necessary skills for future success. As a teacher in this program, you will be responsible for guiding participants through various subjects, including middle and high school math, social studies, science, and language arts. You will work closely with the PPL Career Readiness department to provide access to job placements, career pathways, paid training, financial literacy, and apprenticeships. The ideal candidate will demonstrate patience and creativity, particularly with learners returning to education after a significant absence. You will also be expected to analyze experiences and opportunities to align with Minnesota Career and College Readiness state standards, while planning a curriculum that addresses critical social issues such as privilege, race, class, gender, and sexuality. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work alongside the Lead Teacher and other internal teams to develop and implement program structures, policies, and academic activities that recognize and celebrate participants' achievements. You will maintain clear communication with participants and ensure secure data practices across multiple systems. This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities, but it does require a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all participants.
