VACANCY NOTICE
BUS DRIVER

SUMMARY:
This person will be responsible for efficient and economical bus transportation for students assigned to the
driver’s bus.

DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
1. Drive an assigned bus over a prescribed route and according to a designated schedule.
2. Keep an up-to-date list of all student passengers.
3. Make daily safety checks of the assigned bus.
4. Report all needed bus repairs, shortages, and /or replacements to the bus mechanic.
5. Maintain good student conduct on the bus at all times.
6. Be responsible for fueling the bus regularly.
7. Be certain the interior of the bus is clean.
8. Conduct at least three bus evacuation drills each year.
9. Follow the performance responsibilities of bus drivers as outlined in the Transportation Handbook.
10. Maintain a good driving record both while driving a school bus and in your own vehicle, i.e., no more
than six (6) points on the driving abstract at any one time.
11. Perform other transportation related duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Transportation.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be at least 21 years of age and in good health.
2. Evidence of a good driving record as demonstrated on the state driver’s abstract record.
3. Must pass a physical examination before taking the driver test.
4. Possess an Ohio Bus Operator’s License.
5. Possess a Columbiana County Board of Education Bus Driver Certification.
6. Satisfactorily pass a driving performance test administered by the Supervisor of
Transportation.
7. Experience as a substitute bus driver is preferred.
8. Maintain positive relationships: with staff, administrators, students, and parents.

9. A resident of the United Local School District is preferred.
10. Employment is contingent upon an approved BCI, FBI report.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Length of Employment: For the 2025-2026 school year (4 1⁄2 hours per day)
2. Type of Contract: Limited contract for the 2025-2026 school year
3. Hours of Work: Four and one-half (4 1/2) hours per day according to an assigned schedule.
4. Salary: Hourly rate per the OAPSE Negotiated Agreement.
5. Fringe Benefits: Per the OAPSE Negotiated Agreement.
6. Probationary Period: Ninety (90) workdays.
