About the position

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating 5 and 20-year financial plans for Capital Improvement Projects.
  • Maintaining fund balances and tracking revenue throughout the year.
  • Tracking project spending and initiating budget amendment requests quarterly.
  • Entering data into the OpenGov budget and cost reporting system annually.
  • Facilitating timely budget submissions by scheduling necessary inputs from Public Works.
  • Managing meetings to gather essential data from Division Managers.
  • Updating the Public Works invoice processing procedure and providing training on new systems.
  • Reviewing quarterly budget reports and summarizing key information for Division Managers.
  • Identifying and tracking grant opportunities for various projects within Public Works.
  • Providing ad hoc financial reporting as requested by Division Managers and the Director.
  • Supporting city-wide budget submissions by ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Assisting leadership in defining needs, determining deliverables, and developing project plans.
  • Conducting data analysis to inform discussions on Strategic Plan alignment and performance outcomes.
  • Supporting operational and cost improvement initiatives across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in finance, business, public administration, marketing, project management, quality or process improvement, or a related field.
  • Two years experience in finance, budgeting, process improvement, project management, or related field preferred but not required.
