The Employer is looking to add Construction Maintenance Workers to our Public Works and Parks & Recreation, Waterworks departments!
What division would I work in within the Employer?
Construction Maintenance Workers are essential to the Employer’s operation and function in many of our divisions, such as: –Wastewater –Stormwater –Solid Waste –Parks & Recreation –Street Maintenance –Grounds Maintenance
What does a Construction Maintenance Worker do?
You will perform a variety of maintenance depending on the division you’re assigned.
–Wastewater: Maintenance, repair & installation of sewer system assets; performs masonry work; repairs manholes and force mains
–Solid Waste: Maintains refuse and recycling collection containers; assists with collections; manual labor; landfill and compost site maintenance; remove debris and clear vegetation; responds to inquiries and questions from the public
–Street Maintenance: Asphalt and concrete work; leaf, snow, and debris collection; utility locating; field inspections
–Grounds Maintenance: Performs grounds and landscaping work to include mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, mulching, herbicide, application and related tasks. Performs pipeline easement and watershed maintenance to include erosion control.
–Stormwater: Repair of storm sewer lines; cleaning ditches and storm drains
–Parks & Recreation: General custodial duties; collection, emptying, and disposing of trash; removing debris and litter; cleaning restrooms and picnic areas; inspect for safety concerns; serve as lead worker for community services workers; assist with special events There is opportunity to operate a variety of equipment to include but not limited to:
–Mowers
–Edgers
–Weed Eaters
–Blowers
–Snow Plows
–Jack Hammers
–Air Compressors
–Sand Spreaders
–Pickup Trucks
–Various Hand Tools
–Line, dump, valve & hydrant trucks
–Single & tandem axle dump trucks
You will perform preventative maintenance on equipment and follow safety procedures and regulations.
Construction Maintenance Worker Salaries and Qualifications:
The estimated hiring range for the Construction Maintenance Worker is $15.75 – $20.48 per hour for part-time positions or $32,760.00 – $42,588.00 annually (based on education and experience) for full-time positions. This position requires a high school diploma.
All divisions require a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Some divisions may require a background check, medical screening, and/or substance abuse testing.
The ability to work during and following natural disasters and emergency situations.

We can help with that! The Employer will send you through training with one or our approved vendors to obtain your license! You just need to complete the permit portion of the test through the DMV prior to employment!

–Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Flagger and Basic Work Zone Traffic Control Certification
